Book your Pixel Portrait Commission

"Working with Stoo on my book was such a pleasure. He produced over 70 pixel portraits in his unique style and delivered ahead of schedule, a consummate professional at every stage of the project. My book just wouldn’t be the same without his art, and I’m trying to think of new projects just to be able to work with him again!"

How to Order...

To commission your very own 90s 16bit arcade inspired Pixel Portrait use the order form below. Alternatively if you would rather contact Stoo prior to ordering, please use the form at the bottom of this page.

Prices start at only £95 for a digital version with the option to purchase your new portrait as one of our  superb canvas prints in various retrotastic styles. These make a great gift for a friend or loved one and they look amazing when wall mounted.

Here’s a few things to help before you place your order.

Pre-Booking Checklist

"Commission Your Very Own Pixel Portrait"

Personally pixelled for you by Stoo Cambridge.

SKU: pxlprt
Canvas Print Pixel Portrait – Great as a very unique gift for all occasions. The additional supplied digital version makes for great profile pictures for social media accounts. Supplied in PNG format against a transparent background with a further copy against the background colour of your choice from those available.

From £95.00

Premium Quality Canvas – Each Canvas is professionally made using wooden frames to a depth of 38mm. Using UV resistant ink and manufactured to the highest standards by my superb print partner.

* Due to the limited resolution of pixel art by its very nature, each portrait Stoo creates is an artistic interpretation drawn in his style. Every effort is made to capture a true likeness but please remember this is a stylised artists rendition, not a photograph.

Not Sure which canvas print to order? Check out the gallery below...

  1. Choose your canvas colour
  2. Pick your preferred background style

Once Stoo had created your portrait he will be in touch with a rendered proof using your canvas colour and style options. Don’t worry if you’re not sure, these can be easily changed before signing off on the final image.

“Stoo will provide a 3D rendered proof before you sign off on the final image, so if you’re not quite sure, don’t worry, Stoo will work with you to get the right background colour and style for your portrait.

Not see a colour you like? Ask Stoo and he’ll add any colour you want, (please note there may be a small charge if any graphic design editing is required.”

How to upload your reference Photos

I’ve removed the File Upload as it was causing problems for unregistered customers.

I recommend using the free service WeTransfer to send me your files

Once you have ordered your portrait, head over to https://wetransfer.com/ to upload your photos, then send me the short link provided via the form below and I’ll be in touch to confirm your order and provide a booking slot.

Please get in touch should you have any questions, replying to the order confirmation or via the form below.

Stoo was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. I wanted a 'custom custom' print as I called it, and he didn't disappoint and managed to cheerfully accommodate my request. I look so much better as a 16-bit sprite than in real life! Thanks again for immortalising the famous 1980s non-league rivalry between Enfield and Barnet in 16-bit form. Up the E's!!!

"Whether or not games featuring Stoo’s graphics were part of your childhood, there is no denying his talent for painting with pixels. I admire the work he does with portraits and wanted to commission one for quite a while. Stoo quickly incorporated my few suggestions and was truly enjoyable to work with. I couldn’t be happier."

"It's one thing to adore pixel art, but to realise its potential for a recreation of your own portrait is something extra special. As a big fan of his Cannon Fodder artwork I was immensely excited to see what Stoo could create for my own website logo, using my likeness as the inspiration and the results were just wonderful. If you're looking for a unique retro twist, Stoo certainly has the talent to create your own dedicated pixel masterpiece."

"I've been eyeing up a commissioned portrait for a while, and having grown up on a diet of Amiga games, working with Sensible Software's Stoo Cambridge felt like the perfect fit for a retro-orientated channel. I'm delighted how this portrait came out - so thank you again for your brilliant work. Stoo has been a real pleasure to work with."

"Stoo Cambridge was and is an amazingly talented artist who is responsible for some of the most iconic game graphics of all time during his time with Sensible Software and elsewhere.  It is quite surreal to see my own image recreated by Stoo himself in Pixel form.  The "John" of 1992 would never believe it possible to have such a respected artist create graphics for "ME"!!  Thank you Stoo!"
